Catwoman, Making Of a Base Card.

For the Women Of Legend set, I've had the opportunity to do my first base card for Cryptozoic and DC. Catwoman, no less! Every part of the work was a blast, from prelim to finished colors. And a cameo again of Monsieur le Baron, a.k.a. Jacques Insermini.

Cryptozoic wanted to see Catwoman stealing a jewel, hanged by a rope from the ceiling. First I've made 2 proposals, with intentions of colors.

They went for proposal #2, less dramatic angle, but well... I've done the pencil and inking on a DC comics template, a bit taller in proportion than the card.
Oh, don't call anymore, folks! The original is sold!

The process for the colors is the same as Galactus, thought there are a few more layers for textures and light effects.

Let's finish with Walking Dead....

I've had to do 50 cards for the second set of Walking Dead The Comic Book Sketchcards. It was a bit too much and I almost ran out of inspiration since it was specified that I shoud draw only 20% of zombi cards. So I've drawn some with the regular characters too.

1: Thomas, 2 : Zombi, 3: Axel, 4: Lorie, 5: Zombi, 6: Zombis, 7: Dale, 8: Carl, 9: Allen.

1,2: Michonne, 3: Tyreese and Julia, 4: Eugene, 5: Andrea, 6: The Governor, 7: Rick, 8: Zombi, 9: Billy.

1: Sophia, 2: Abraham, 3: Zombi, 4: Doctor Stevens, 5: Paul "Jesus" Monroe, 6: Negan, 7: Carol, 8: Regina, 9: Douglas.

1: Morgan w/ son, 2: Negan's Goon, 3: Zombi, 4: Maggie, 5: Tyreese, 6: Holly, 7: Glenn, 8: Rosita, 9: Eugene.

1: Heath, 2: Zombi, 3: Dale and Andrea, 4: Josie, 5: Father Gabriel, 6: Aaron, 7: Herschell, 8: Zombi, 9: Julie.

1: Heath, 2: Doctor Denise Cloyd, 3: Gregory, 4: Rick, 5: Zombi.

Bonus: 2 Artist Proof Sketchcards, Carl and Glenn. 3 remains, folks!

The Walking Dead Sketchcards.

Here is the complete set (minus the 5 Artist Proofs) that I've provided for the Walking Dead Comic Book sketchcards. I was planning to do only 20 cards, but I went so fast and Cryptozoic was so happy with the result that they've ask me for 20 more. Well, I couldn't resist.

Since, I've participated on the second set, soon to be seen on this blog.
Depuis, Cryptozoic a produit un second set auquel j'ai participé. Bientôt sur ce blog :).

Mais? Monsieur le Baron?

I've done this pin-up for the art book "Pin-up modernes, les dessous d'une création" published by Peleone Editions. In this book, that I share with 12 other artists, I explain all the process to realise this piece. Though it took me some times, I wanted to produce a pin-up in this technique and illustrate this typical situation from some 70's french movies.

Tribute to Shingo Araki

My tribute to the late Shingo Araki: Shura of Capricorn. This one is for a book created by Olivier Chamaillard, for Araki's widow. Pitt pens, Copic markers and white pencil.

Something Else...

Sometimes people commission me to do portraits in a classic way. I love to do that.

Sanguine and brown color pencils on beige paper with white acrylic.

Aldebaran of Taurus

I really am NOT into that Saint Seiya frenzie. A friend of mine asked me to watch the new OAVs (Hades) and I really dig the character. So... Best bit: The collumn and the armor. I thought afterward that I could have use a pic of Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo) as reference for the face.

Darkness

I've begun to draw this one at work, and turned out that french publisher Semic wanted illustrations to fill in the french edition of Darkness. So I've coloriée it on computer at home. At that time, I didn't ink my work, but cleaned it with pencils through a lightbox.

Golden Age Heroes and Villains Sketchcards

Breygent Entertainment contacted me a few week after I've produced the Iron Man 2  set. I had to draw characters that were in the public domain. I've used Pantone markers that time to give a different feel with the colors.

Iron Man Sketchcards

The 9 first Iron Man 2 sketchcards for Upperdeck / Marvel. I did have a lot of fun on this assignement. So we have: 1-2: Iron Man, 3: Madame Mask, 4-5 Iron Man, 6: Iron Man Mark 1, 7: Iron Monger, 8: Black Widow, 9: Nick Fury.

I've done 50 overall. 1: Man Bull, 2:Dum-Dum Dugan, 3: Black Widow, 4: Mandarin, 5 Jack Of Heart, 6: Modok, 7-8: Iron Man, 9: Blizzard.

1: Iron Man Mark1, 2: Black Widow, 3-4: Iron Man / Blueprint, 5 Iorn Man, 6: Jack Of Heart, 7: Iron Man, 8-9: Iron Man / Hulk.

The 5 rejected Iron Man 2 sketchcards: 1:Tony Stark screen design, 2: Happy Hogan, 3: Pepper Potts, 4: Tony Stark as Iron Man, 5: Tony Stark.
